Professional background:
After graduating with honors from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, in 1988, I worked as a camp counselor at YMCA Camp Belknap in Wolfeboro, NH, before relocating to Steamboat Springs. In my early years here, I joined Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation as a Sales Representative and later earned the position of Mountain Host, which allowed me to ski daily while also working in group sales and hosting ticketing and information sessions.
I spent two summers running the Rocky Mountain Adventure Club, a summer camp for 9- to 13-year-olds, and worked at the Whiteman School (Steamboat Mountain School) as an art teacher, soccer coach, and assistant dorm parent for 9th and 10th graders. Simultaneously, I taught skiing at Steamboat Resort, coached hockey, and held a part-time position doing overnight shifts on air at KFMU. This role at KFMU launched what has become a lifelong career and passion for broadcasting.
From 1998 to 2006, I served as the General Manager for KFMU, KIDN, and KQZR. I then moved to Cool Radio where I was General Manager until 2012. In 2012, I became the General Manager and minority owner of Blizzard Broadcasting/Steamboat Radio, overseeing all aspects of the business across 7 local stations. This role allows me to manage daily operations and drive sales strategies, and I’ve built strong relationships with local businesses in the Yampa Valley, enhancing our community connections through tailored advertising and marketing initiatives.
As an on-air personality, I have become a recognizable voice in Steamboat Springs, known for my coverage of local events. I’ve emceed numerous high-profile gatherings, including the Winter Carnival Street Events, Winter Carnival Night Show, 4th of July Parade and Fireworks Countdown, Winter Carnival Jumping and Jamming, Nordic Combined Continental Cups, NCAA Ski Championships, and many more. My role often involves collaborating with local organizations to ensure these events not only succeed but also foster community spirit.
Since 1992, I’ve been dedicated to promoting high school sports through radio broadcasts and online streaming, bringing excitement to games for Steamboat Springs football, basketball, ice hockey, soccer, and more. I’ve worked tirelessly to develop this program, calling games live and providing play-by-play commentary that captures the energy and passion of our local athletes. This initiative has not only highlighted the talent of our youth but has also strengthened community ties by rallying support for local teams.
Additionally, I actively partner with various non-profits, crafting and executing impactful advertising campaigns for organizations such as the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, United Way, Routt County Humane Society, Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide and the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council.
