Larry Byvik

I was born and raised in Virginia. I grew up sailing, skiing and cycling. After Graduating high school I spent several years as a professional cyclist in the US and Northern Europe. During that time I completed University and Graduate school and began a teaching career that spanned 25 years. I began teaching at the same time I became a ski instructor in 1991. As a middle school special education and social studies teacher, I specialized in at risk students. I served 7 years as Dean of my grade level.

I raised four children, one girl and three boys, all grown and productive adults. My daughter is a project manager for an insurance company. Two of my sons serve in the US Marine corps and one as a rescue swimmer in the US Coast Guard. I left teaching to manage the children’s snowsports school at Whitetail Resort in Pennsylvania. After two amazing seasons, I decided to move west and find a life in the mountains. I moved to Steamboat Springs in summer of 2020 and soon thereafter was introduced to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. I helped open Primrose as a waiter and am the owner of SkiTown Doors, LLC a garage door contracting company.

I have over 3 decades of experience with children as a teacher, administrator, ski coach and instructor and managing a ski school with 100 employees and thousands of guests.

It would be a great pleasure to use my experience in the service of SSWSC to help guide the organization into the future.
