Please introduce yourself by sharing your expertise and experiences that will support the work of the CCSMS board.
I practice business and commercial law. I began working with the CCSMS Charter Committee as a member to incorporate the non-profit corporation, secure IRS "Charity" status, and develop its application to CCSD and the Board of Education. My wife, who is a Speech Pathologist for CCSD, and I are passionate about CCSMS. We have two scholars at CCSMS. I have served on the Board for seven years and have collaborated with other Board members to work through periods of instability to minimize turmoil and shift the organizational focus to planning, in lieu of reactivity, and recognition, instead of finger-pointing. While I believe there has been a favorable shift in CCSMS' foundational dynamics over my tenure, there remains work that must be done for CCSMS to realize the potential it has to offer its students, teachers and parents and I would like to continue to be involved in those efforts.

Statement:
Please share how you will advance the mission of CCSMS by serving on the board.

I believe my experience helps to maintain the institutional knowledge of CCSMS and provides a skill set that would continue to benefit our school over the course of another term. In addition, I would like to create a more formalized process of developing volunteer opportunities at CCSMS, both with allied academic and extracurricular activities and organizations. It is my hope that, by doing so, CCSMS can be more deliberate of the skill sets needed for the Board, F3 and other support efforts and foster volunteers to increase each group's capacity and achievements, much as CCSMS seeks to do for its scholars. In addition, I hope to work with the administration to update CCSMS' policies and procedures to more closely track the mission and core values of our school so that they provide guidance and accountability in day to day operations.
