Please introduce yourself by sharing your expertise and experiences that will support the work of the CCSMS board.
I am Donloyn LeDuff Gadson. I hold a bachelor’s degree in health science from MUSC. My professional career began in healthcare where I worked predominantly in the areas of pediatrics and child development. After a health crisis with one of my children, I became a stay-at-home mother. This afforded me the opportunity to explore my dream of becoming both writer and artist. I have been writing professionally since 2010. I am the author of three books and teach creative writing classes for Trident Technical College’s Teen University Summer Program. As a wife and mother of 8—including two CCSMS graduates and five current students—I am dedicated to the success of Charleston Charter. As a current board member, I hope to continue bringing my skills, education, and experience to the table to review, establish, and implement policies that will support the work of the board and honor its mission.

Statement:
Please share how you will advance the mission of CCSMS by serving on the board.

CCSMS strives to provide a diverse learning environment that supports its scholars academically, developmentally, and socially. In keeping with that mission, I believe members of the CCSMS board should have a desire to see children of all backgrounds excel and develop in all areas during their time with us and beyond. I possess this desire as well as a host of valuable talents and abilities that will aid CCSMS in successfully carrying out its objective. I am a skilled writer, speaker, and teacher with a love and appreciation of science and the arts. I am experienced in the areas of PR and communications. I’m a fair-minded individual who believes in equitable treatment of others and recognizing the value of their voices. I am a champion for students, their families, educators, and school administrators and passionately believe we form a community that possesses the power and ability to shape our world.
